About United Airlines

United Airlines is a major American airline company which headquarters is situated in Chicago. It was founded in 1926 as Varney Air Lines but later the name changed to Boeing Air Transport. It is also member of Star Alliance.

United Airlines is the largest airline in the world as it covers largest number of destinations in entire world. It offers air services for 1000 destinations in 170 countries and about 700 aircrafts are operated by it. It has strong international route network and 10 international hubs in which George Bush International Airport is the largest hub. It is combination of various airlines which include Capital Airlines, New York Air, Arizona Airways, National Air Transport, Air Micronesia, Pacific Air Transport, Varney Air Lines, Pan American, World Airways Challenger Airlines etc. The logo “U” is used on its aircrafts.

United Airlines was founded in April 6, 1926 as Boeing Air Transport and initially began it services as airmail carrier. In the year 1934, the airline got the name Untied Air Lines and William A. Patterson was appointed the president of the company. Initially United Airlines operated its flights on U.S. air mail routes, east-to-west along a transcontinental route from New York City to San Francisco via Chicago and Salt Lake City, and also on north-to-south along the West Coast. After many modifications further, on June 1, 1961 United Airlines merged with Capital Airlines and became the world's biggest commercial airline. In 1968 the company was reorganised as UAL Corporation and the United Airlines became the fully owned subsidiary.

United Airlines fleet include Airbus A319-100 (55), Airbus A320-200 (97), Boeing 747-400 (25), Boeing 757-200 (96), Boeing 767-300ER (35), Boeing 777-200 (19) and Boeing 777-200ER (33). The airline has placed order for 50 more aircraft that include Airbus A350-900XWB (25) and Boeing 787-8 (25).
