Web check-in and verification
Customers are given the option of web check-in which begins 24 hours and up to 45 minutes before the flight (90 minutes for international).
To check-in and check bags at the airport, passengers must be there a certain amount of time before their scheduled departure (within the US: 45 minutes and to or from destinations outside the US: 60 minutes).
Baggage Allowance
Customers flying Basic Economy are allowed 1 free carry-on (in addition to a personal item) to all destinations. The personal item must fit under the seat in front. Dimensions should not exceed 18 x 14 x 8 inches (45 x 35 x 20 cm). Basic Economy customers traveling within the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean are only allowed 1 personal item. All other bags must be checked. Diaper bags (1 per child), soft-sided cooler bags with breast milk, child safety seats, strollers and medical or mobility devices don’t count as your personal item or carry-on.
If the items don’t fit in the overhead bin or under the seat, they may need to be checked. There may be additional carry-on baggage restrictions at certain airports or on certain airplanes.
For all regions, the checked baggage should not exceed 62 inches/158 cm and 23 kg. For First/ Business Class, weight restriction is 32 kg. If you're flying to St. Maarten (SXM) you'll be limited to 2 checked bags per person. Normal fees apply for oversized and overweight bags; active duty U.S. Military and assistive devices are not affected.
American Airlines also allows passengers to travel with sports equipment (additional charges may apply) and assistive devices for passengers with disabilities.

Passport and Visa Information
Passengers are advised to check if their passport is valid for long enough in order to enter the destination country. Countries can have different passport validity requirements, for example, minimum 6 months from arrival date, minimum 3 months from arrival date, valid on the date of arrival or valid 3 months beyond the planned stay in the destination country.
Passengers may be required to present proof of age (such as a birth certificate) for children under the age of 18.
If a passenger is traveling internationally, children or infants travelling outside the US are required to have the same documentation as an adult. If anyone under 18 is travelling internationally without both parents, they may be required to present a Letter of Consent. Families with children under 2 years can ask to board early at the gate.
In-flight services
American Airlines offer more legroom and wider, adjustable leather seats with extendable foot and head rests. Other services offered to passengers are chef-inspired meals with beer, wine and personal on-demand entertainment with larger monitors and noise-reducing headphones.
Passengers can be comfortable with a complimentary amenity kit, and a pillow and blanket created alongside sleep technology company Casper.
Fleet
American Airlines is the largest operator of the Airbus A320 family of aircraft in the world. It operates the largest fleet of A321 aircraft, and has the second largest A319 fleet, after easyJet.
American Airlines has dedicated 17 Airbus A321s (A321T) in its fleet for the specific use of flying transcontinental routes between New York JFK - Los Angeles and New York JFK - San Francisco. These aircrafts offer two premium cabins, Flagship First and Flagship Business, which are unique among domestic mainline aircrafts in American Airline's fleet.

As of July 2018, American Airlines flies to 95 domestic destinations and 95 international destinations in 55 countries in five continents.
