About GMG Airlines

GMG Airlines (Z5), the largest private airlines of Bangladesh has been successfully operating for the last 13 years, since 1998. Its head office is located in the AAA Tower in Nikunjo-2, Dhaka, in Bangladesh. The oldest and largest private carrier of Bangladesh, GMG Airlines operates both domestic and international flight services. The main bases of the airline are Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, and Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong.

GMG Airlines was formed in the year 1997 and it started operations on April 6th, 1998. An industrial conglomeration of GMG Group and Beximco, own the airline. The airline started with domestic services and entered international market on September 8th, 2004, with flights from Chittagong to Kolkata. GMG Airline was the first private airline of Bangladesh to start international operations. On October 20th, 2006, it started scheduled flight service to Delhi, Bangkok, and Kathmandu, and on January 24th, 2007 it started flight services to Kuala Lumpur. GMG Airlines commenced its services to the Middle East on February 1, 20008, with regular flights to Dubai. In July, 2010, the airline started four flights a week to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, and six flights a week to Riyadh in Saudi Arabia.

Currently, the fleet of GMG Airlines consists of 8 aircrafts: two Boeing 767, one Bombardier Dash 8 100, two Bombardier Dash 8 300, two McDonnell Douglas MD-82, and one McDonnell Douglas MD-83 aircraft. The average age of GMG aircrafts is 15.6 years, as of 2011. To fulfill the increasing demands of air transportation, GMG is ready to expand its fleet and routes rapidly.
