Web check-in and verification


Passengers can check-in through their mobiles or the web, making the process extremely convenient. Mobile and web check-in can be done 24 hours before departure, until the check-in deadline. The boarding passes are then sent on passengers’ phone by email or SMS, or they can print the same at an airport kiosk.
Passengers can also use the online or mobile check-in option to cancel their check-in, provided they have not printed any baggage tags.
For domestic flights, passengers are required to carry their ID card, passport or driving license. Passengers traveling to international destinations are required to provide their passport that has a validity of 6 months hence.

Baggage allowance


Passengers travelling on Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge or Air Canada Express (flights operated by Jazz, Air Georgian and Sky Regional) can bring 1 standard article and 1 personal article on board.
In addition, they can bring their coat, small purse, special need or infant care item, including a small collapsible stroller on board.
Regarding checked baggage, the free baggage allowance is determined by the fare, destination, date of ticket purchase and frequent flyer status. The baggage should not exceed more than a total of 158 cm in height and 23 kg in weight.
Air Canada complies with International Travel Standards that do not allow passengers to carry firearms, weapons, explosive devices, flammable substances, toxic as well as chemical substances. Passengers who carry sharp objects are required to pack the items along with the checked-in baggage.

Passport and Visa Information


A valid passport is required for travel to, from and via most countries, including for return travel to Canada. If the passenger does not have a valid passport, they should apply for one well in advance of travel.
Some countries require the passport to be valid for three or six months beyond the date of return. The passenger can visit the IATA Travel Centre to determine whether the three- or six-month rule applies to your destination(s).
Passports must be in good condition: passports damaged beyond normal wear and tear will not be accepted. Examples of damage to a passport may be found on the Canadian Passport Program website.
Prior to any international travel that includes a child, parents should visit the IATA Travel Centre and Travel and Tourism Canada or contact the Embassy/High Commission or Consulate of all countries the child will be visiting to enquire about entry and exit requirements.
