About Royal Jordanian
Royal Jordanian Airlines is the flag carrier of Jordan with head office situated in Amman, Jordan. It offers scheduled international air services for four continents from the main hub Queen Alia International Airport. It is a member of Arab Air Carriers Organization and Oneworld; a global airline alliance. It has won the “Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation” award for "Airline Turnaround of the Year 2006" on 9 November 2006. 500 flights are operated by it on weekly basis and at least 110 flights on daily basis. About 60 destinations in 40 countries are covered by it in all over Middle East, Europe, Asia, Africa and North America. This airline was established in 1963 but started to operate from 15 December 1963 after a royal decree by the late King Hussein. It was named after King Hussein's eldest child, Princess Alia bint Al Hussein of Jordan.
Royal Jordanian, the erstwhile Alia, was established on 9th December 1963 by His Majesty King Hussein. Within a week, on 15th December, the airlines started its operations. In 1965, it offered its first weekly flight to Europe (Rome) and a year later, it became a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA). In 1971, it added two Boeing 707 and in 1974, it added Boeing 727, and since then it has been upgrading its fleet regularly. In 1975, Alia became the proud employer of the first Jordanian female flight engineer, who was also the first Arab woman to be a part of a crew member. In 1986, Alia was rechristened as Royal Jordanian that offers cheap flights on global routes. Within a decade, in 1996, its services extended to 48 cities across 4 continents. In 2007, it became a part of the Oneworld Alliance, about a decade after it had signed its first Codeshare Agreement, which proves beneficial for Royal Jordanian’s passengers.

Its fleet includes Airbus A340 (North America), A330 (Europe and Asia), A321 (regional and European routes), A320 (Middle East and Europe) and A319 (Levant and to Europe). The airlines also boast of Embraer 195 and Embraer 175 that operate within Levant region. With a motive to offer the best air travel experience to its passengers, the airline keeps upgrading its flights. In this direction, it has also placed order for 11 state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliners, which are expected to be delivered in 2014.
