Us Airways is a major air carrier of America headquartered in Tempe, Arizona. US Airways is believed to be a full-service, low-cost carrier providing deals on flights to destinations across the United States. The history of US Airways dates back to All America Aviation Company which was established in 1939 by du Pont Family brothers and CEO Steven Gardner. Initially the airline its services as airmail carrier and was renamed All American Airways in 1949 when it begun passenger service. In 1953 the company was renamed Allegheny Airlines, and after many changes in the name such as Lake Central Airlines (1968) and Mohawk Airlines (1972) got its current name US Airways in 1979. US Airways purchase San Diego based Pacific Southwest Airlines (PSA) and Winston-Salem, and North Carolina-based Piedmont Airlines in 1989, and eventually became a major airline company. US Airways also suffered biggest financial woes post 9/11 and opted to go for a merger with America West Airlines in 2005 to overcome the dismal condition.
