About Kenya Airways
Kenya Airways Ltd is commonly known as Kenya Airways is the flag carrier of Kenya and was founded in 1977 after the dissolution of East African Airways. The main hub of this airline is situated at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport with head office located in Embakasi, Nairobi. In 1955 it was fully owned by Government of Kenya but in 1996 it came in hand of private sector and currently it is successfully running under a public-private partnership. The largest shareholder of Kenya Airways is Government of Kenya which own 29.8% of its share and KLM which own its 26.73% stake in the company. The rest shares are owned by private owners. The shares are traded in the Nairobi Stock Exchange, the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange, and the Uganda Securities Exchange. This airline is widely considered as one of the leading Sub-Saharan operators and in January 2013 it was ranked 4th among the top ten ones that operate in Africa by seat capacity after South African Airways. It covers more African destinations than any other carrier. In 2005, Kenya Airways became the first airline in sub-Saharan Africa to achieve the IOSA certification (IATA Operational Safety Audit), a rigorous safety standard. In 2010 again it achieved the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Safety Audit for Ground Operations (ISAGO).
