Air Arabia is the largest and first Low Cost Carrier (LCC) in the Middle-East and North Africa region. Established on 3 of February, in the year 2003 as a result of an Amiri decree by Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al-Qasimi, who is the Ruler of Sharjah and also a member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates, Air Arabia became the first low cost carrier in the region. With operations commencing on 28 October 2003, the first Air Arabia flight took off from Sharjah to Bahrain International Airport. The airline has stayed profitable from the very first year of being in business. Air Arabia went public in 2007 when it issued 55% of its stock to the public. .
