About Air Asia

Air Asia (AK), a leading airline was formed with a dream of making flying possible for everyone. Today, AirAsia is the largest low-fare and low-cost travel airline in Asia. Along with its subsidiaries, AK operates both, domestic and international flights to more than 400 destinations in 25 countries. The primary hub of the airline is in Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and registered office at Petaling Jaya, Selangor. Air Asia's affiliate airlines, Indonesia AirAsia and Thai AirAsia, have their respective hubs in Soekarno-Hatta International airport and Suvarnabhumi Airport, respectively.

AirAsia Airline was formed in the year 1993. However, it started its services on 18th November, 1996. The airline was founded by DRB-Gicom, a government corporation. On December 2nd, 2001, the badly-indebted AirAsia was purchased by Tune Air Sdn Bhd for a total amount of one Ringgit. After a remarkable profit in the year 2002, the airline launched new routes from its hub in Kuala Lumpur International Airport at an extremelyaggressive rate. In 2003, it launched another hub at Senai International Airport, Johor Bahru near Singapore and started its first international flight to Bangkok. In June, 2004, it started flights to Macau and in April, 2005 started flights to Philippines (Manila) and Mainland China (Xiamen). the year 2005 marked the beginning of flights to Cambodia and Vietnam, , Myanmar and Brunei.
