United Kingdom

Open for Indians to Travel: NO

Visa and Immigration Related Information:

What are the eligibility criteria/visa requirements for Indians?

  • From 4am on Friday, 23rd April, if you have been in India in the previous 10 days, you will only be allowed to enter the UK if you are a British, Irish or third-country national with residency rights. Indian nationals are not permitted to enter UK.

Can non-Indians travel?

  • Yes. British/Irish citizens and those with residence rights in the UK (including long-term visa holders) can travel.

Are there any destination restrictions?

  • Indian nationals travelling from India are not currently permitted to enter UK till further notice.

Are there any pre-registration or app requirements?

  • Eligible travellers must fill an Online Passenger Locator Form. Click here.

 

Mandatory quarantine duration for Indians: Those eligible to travel from India must stay in a managed quarantine hotel for 10 days.

Mandatory Quarantine & Testing Rules:

Is COVID test mandatory before travel?

  • Yes, all eligible international travellers (including UK nationals) must have a negative COVID-19 test taken up to 72 hours prior to departure. A fine of £500 will be imposed for those who do not comply with this.
  • They must also take 2 COVID-19 tests after their arrival. These must be pre-booked before travel and cost £210. The first test must be taken on day 2 and second one on day 8 of quarantine. You can book the tests here.

What are the quarantine guidelines for Indians?

  • Travellers from India are currently not permitted to enter UK unless they are British/ Irish citizens or have residence rights in UK. Eligible travellers must stay in a managed quarantine hotel for 10 days. Check the list of hotels here.
  • Anyone arriving in UK without a Hotel Quarantine Confirmation will be issued penalty of £4000 plus the applicable hotel quarantine charges. During their managed quarantine stay, passengers will be required to take a coronavirus test on or before day 2 and on or after day 8. However, they will not be allowed to shorten their quarantine period on receipt of a negative test result or through the ‘Test to Release’ scheme.

Air India

Indian Tourists Allowed: No

Eligible Visa Types for Indians: Those with residence rights in UK (including long-term visa holders) can travel.

Non-Indians Allowed:  Yes

Eligible Visa Types for Non-Indians: British/ Irish citizens and those with residence rights in UK are permitted to travel on these flights.

Quarantine & Testing Rules:

  1. Eligible international travellers (including UK nationals) must have a negative COVID-19 test taken up to 72 hours prior to departure.
  2. They must also stay in a government-approved quarantine facility for 10 days. Passengers arriving in UK without Hotel Quarantine Confirmation will be issued penalty of £4000 plus the applicable hotel quarantine charges.
  3. During their managed quarantine stay, passengers must take a coronavirus test on or before Day 2 and on or after Day 8. However, they will not be allowed to shorten their quarantine period on receipt of a negative test result or through the ‘Test to Release’ scheme.
