Popular for the endangered Hangul or the Kashmir stag- the only species of red deer to be found in India. Dachigam National Park sits 22 km away from Srinagar and covers an area of more than 141 sq. Km. The actual beauty of the park lies can be seen in its deep valleys, rocky outcrops, and rolling alpine pastures. Being in the mountain valley, the park faces variation in altitude, due to which the park has been divided into two regions - the upper region and the lower region.

Spot Hangul - Kashmir Stag along with other inhabitants like Musk deer, Brown bears, Jungle Cats, Leopards and the Himalayan black bear. Birdwatchers can spot the Himalayan Monals, Kashmiri Flycatchers, Cinnamon sparrows, Black Bulbuls, and Colourful pheasants among many others. Also, spot the wild cherry, walnut, pine, elm, oak, apple, plum, peach, and apple trees in the flora category.

Use social media or the local tourism website to find out what’s going on locally. You may have to move out of the center of the city to do some of the less popular but more unique things, so just keep that in mind!
