Overview

Jhalong, on the road to Kalimpong, sits on the banks of the Jaldhaka River, at the foot of the Himalayas. It provides stunning panoramic views of the Himalayas. Several kinds of hill birds, including the laughing thrush, redstart, brown dipper, and other migratory ones, make Jhallong a birdwatcher's paradise.

What To Expect?

The Bindu Dam links India and Bhutan and is a major tourist destination in its own right. The Cardamom Healing Center and Godak are two further places of interest. Also, the view of the Torsa River is particularly impressive from atop the little hill of Totopara, which is located at a distance of around 22 kilometres.

The best time to visit Jhalong is in the months of October and November.
