BEACH
Situated on a coral atoll in the Indian Ocean, Agatti is one of the few Lakshadweep Islands that allows tourism. Due to its remote location, this island gives you the ultimate exclusive experience, perfect for you and your significant other who want some special time alone.
So don’t leave Agatti before you…
Crystal waters and sandy beaches: Say goodbye to crowded beaches as you get the chance to laze around and spend your days in the cool crystal waters of this stunning remote island.
Scuba diving and snorkeling: Untouched reefs and clear waters allow you to swim with fish and sea anemones and discover the undiscovered. Unlike many snorkeling and diving spots, this one offers a relatively quieter and less crowded experience since there are no hassles over booking or wait lists compared to other prominent spots.
Fishing: The waters here are clean and sparkling blue and big game fishing is conducted from boats to catch large open-water species. Hardcore fishing fans can take boats for deep seas fishing as well.
Glass bottom boat ride: This is the perfect opportunity to get up close and personal with the amazing underwater world without getting your feet wet. Hop onto this boat ride to see the colorful sights of the ocean from corals to star fish to sea cucumbers.
With only 2 hotels, the restaurants are limited to the ones at the resort itself. Fresh sea food is definitely the selling point.
January to March and October to December are the prime time months to visit, with temperatures between 25 and 30 degree celsius.
It’s ‘exclusivity’ does have his setbacks. Since there are only two hotels on the island, an entry permit proving a place to stay at the island is essential.
By Air: Kochi to Agatti flights have 90 minutes of travelling time. Agatti Aerodrome, a single landing strip over the waters (again, stunning) is the sole airport on this 7 kilometer island. Kochi to Agatti flights have 90 minutes of travelling time.
By Sea: Fourteen to twenty hours is the time taken to travel via the sea route if you are coming from Kochi to Agatti.
With bicycles available almost everywhere, explore this island on bikes!
Less is more here. Carry your beach wear and flip flops and sun screen to avoid a tan.
Relaxation at its best, you’ll finally get a good doze of some alone time with your significant other at this beautiful place. You might not have tons of shopping bags or souvenirs, but the biggest take away from this trip would probably just be you going back as yourself, fresh and ready!
