A world city in its own right, Sydney has an inexhaustible range of options for the solo traveller. Stroll by the Harbour and admire two of the city’s most iconic structures- the Sydney Opera House (don’t forget to catch a show while you’re there) and the Harbour Bridge. Spend a day at Sydney Aquarium and enjoy a glass bottom boat ride, or even shark reef snorkeling! If all that has worked up an appetite, then head to Quay for a delicious Australian seafood meal (which was also host to the Masterchef finals).

Walk the majestic Golden Gate Bridge, chat up the locals, ride a cable car and enjoy the city’s fabulous weather as you cycle down the winding lanes. Sample delicious seafood at Fisherman’s Wharf, shop for souvenirs or enjoy a rickshaw ride while you’re there. Don’t miss a ferry ride to Alcatraz Island, one of the world’s most notorious prisons. Make sure you book it at least a month in advance to avoid last minute disappointment.
