Would you believe us if we told you that you needn’t shell out lacs of rupees to visit Japan or Washington D.C. to admire the beautiful cherry blossoms in full bloom? All you need to do is travel to the charming hill town of Shillong in the state of Meghalaya this November and you will be welcomed with coverlets of pink and white cherry blooms by Ward’s Lake. There’s more—an extravagant festival of events and performances (free for all) await you there!

When Is It?

India International Cherry Blossom Festival starts on November 14 and ends on November 17, 2018.

Where Is It?

The festival takes place in Meghalaya (Shillong) and is spread across five venues: Polo Fifth Ground, State Convention Centre, Golf Course, JN Stadium, Indoor Stadium Polo.

What’s in It for You?

From guided night walks under illuminated cherry blossoms to online photography competition, from live western music bands to beauty pageants and a surfeit of stalls—there’s something here for everyone. 

How to Reach?

The nearest airport to the festival is Shillong Airport (also called as Umroi). Second nearest is the Guwahati Airport. Guwahati Railway Station is also a major railhead connected to all other major stations across the country.
