Starting with cat cafes, animal cafes have slowly become popular all over the world. The first cat cafe opened in Taiwan in 1998, followed by one in Japan in 2004, thereafter spreading the idea to the rest of the world. Here is a list of the coolest animal cafes around the world!

1. The Sakuragaoka Café, Tokyo

This unique goat-themed cafe in Shibuya, Tokyo is popular for its two resident goats, Sakura and Chocolat. It is a delight to watch these two snuggle in their wooden enclosure, calmly chew their food and enjoy being pet by visitors and passersby.

The cafe has an arty and goat-themed decor, and some lovely souvenirs to take home. Visitors can ask the staff for treats for the goats, for a chance to feed and pet them. One can also sign up to take them for a walk. While doing so, don't miss out on the opportunity to take a selfie with them!

2. Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium, London

London's first cat café, this place is every cat lovers' dream come true. The interiors are based on a classic English tea room and the cat-friendly décor offers many cat toys, cushions and a cat wheel to play with for the kitties. One look around will tell you that the twelve adorable cats here are well looked after and strict hygiene rules are followed.

While planning a visit to this cat café in London, do check their event schedule and book in advance. The café offers pet first-aid courses, colouring activities and high tea events, serving a traditional high tea menu on tiered plates in the company of cats. As an extra precaution, all dairy products are served covered with a food net. If you're looking to relax and unwind with some pet therapy, this is the place for you!

3. Café Two's and Four's, Pune

One of the best dog cafes in India, Café Two's and Four's is a must visit for pets and pet lovers. Whether you want to plan a special something for your furry friend's birthday, take him out for a treat or just want to spend time with other adorable dogs, this is the perfect place for you. It has a widespread lawn for dogs to play in, and a multi-cusine cafe with a separate menu for two-leggeds and four-leggeds.

The quirky decor complete with recycled and hand-painted tyres, trunks and chairs gives a very homely and inviting feel to it. One can check out their little library for informative books on pets and cooking, while the pooches roll and play in the lawn. This cafe in Pune also offers dog boarding and day care facilities. 4. Rabbit Cafe, Tokyo

Tokyo is known for its wide variety of animal cafes, with rabbit cafes being the latest trend. One of these, Ra.a.g.f short for Rabbit And Grow Fat, is home to about 30 different breeds of rabbits. It is a delightful experience to pet, feed and play with these cute bunnies or to chase them scampering around the cafe. The interiors are small and cosy, with only three small tables and a floor seating, so that visitors can cuddle and hang out with the rabbits while enjoying their drink.

Here the rabbit "staff" are not for sale, but for visitors wanting their own bunnies for pets, the cafe has a breeding centre attached to it. One must visit this place for an opportunity to get familiar with these adorable furry animals, before buying one as a pet.

5. Thanks Nature Café, Seoul

Commonly known as the sheep cafe, two white fluffy sheep are the celebrities here. One can choose to sit inside the cafe, or sip on a cup of coffee outside where the sheep have their own wooden area and are let free to roam around and enjoy being cuddled by visitors. Well-groomed and much loved by the owner, it is difficult to resist patting and hugging these white fur balls.

This cafe has been a huge hit among tourists and locals alike. Keeping with the theme, the cafe is decorated with miniature sheep figures, toys, posters, and rows of greenery. Though the sheep are the highlight here, one must try one of their endless variety of waffles.
