A park for everyone on the Gold Coast

The Gold Coast is one of the best family holiday destinations in Australia. There are sandy white beaches that go on for miles, great surfing spots and perfect weather. But what really makes the Gold Coast a great place for everyone are the theme parks.

Movie World and Sea World

For movie buffs, there is Movie World where you can like Green Lantern, pretend you are in the wild west or go back to the Ice Age in a unique 4D experience; everyone’s favourite films are here. For those who prefer learning about life in the ocean, Sea World is a fascinating place to visit. Here, you can go snorkelling in a tropical reef or see the fish from the comfort of a glass-bottom boat. For a unique family experience, try the Dolphin Family Adventure. This private tour lets you interact with dolphins and learn about how they live from a specialised trainer. You can even get a family photo taken with the dolphins for your mantelpiece.

Penguin Parade at Philip Island

Only 90 minutes from Melbourne, you can actually witness one of the most amazing wildlife sights i.e. to see Penguins returning home at sunset. It is also one of the largest penguin colonies in Australia. Do not forget to take your camera along!

Dreamworld and Wiggles World

If you are a thrill-seeking family, then Dreamworld was made for you. There are over 40 different rides and attractions in this massive park, set over a variety of different lands. There is Wiggles World for the young ones, the Town of Gold Rush for treasure seekers, Rocky Hollow for the adventurous and Australian Wildlife Experience is for everyone. The weather is just perfect on the Gold Coast for splashing around and Wet N Wild Water World is one of the best places to do that. There are thrill rides like the Kamikaze for the more daring, or a Giant Wave Pool if you just want to cool off with some gentle waves.

Kangaroo Island

Go hunting for something “Big”

Australia is famous for its unique wildlife; some cuddly and others a little more dangerous. One of the country’s natural wonderlands is Kangaroo Island where you can find sea lions basking on the beach or cuddle a koala. Of course, there are also kangaroos in the wild as well as goannas laying eggs and even little penguins that come up to shore. If you are visiting during winter, you may even be lucky enough to see Southern Right whales go past as they migrate from the Antarctic.

Australia Zoo

If you want to learn more about Australian wildlife or perhaps even get close to a crocodile, then Australia Zoo is one of the best places to go. Made famous by the “Crocodile Hunter”, the late Steve Irwin, Australia Zoo is a conservation park first and foremost, dedicated to educating people about how to look after the environment and protect its precious animals. You can learn about how they nurture injured animals at the Australia Zoo hospital or even pat a kangaroo. Australia Zoo can be easily reached in a day trip from either Brisbane or the Sunshine Coast.
