Want To Go ?

Due to my over expressive nature, everyone around me knows my love for island beaches. In fact, little secret here, as a teenager, I wanted to dance to the tunes of Kaho na pyaar hai with my better half on the beaches of Krabi Island myself. To my biggest surprise, last year on my birthday, my parents gifted me a holiday to Bali. They booked a beach bungalow at Legian Beach Hotel, and oh boy, was I ready for so much pampering!

Day 1

Unlike the usual waiting around at the airport for a cab to take you to your hotel, only to find out that the hotel you choose can’t even be mapped; this was a pleasant experience. I had a cab waiting for me at the airport and guess what, it didn’t take me more than half an hour to reach Legian Bali. I didn’t have to go through the long process of checking-in either.

And there I was, in this extremely gorgeous room, sorry, bungalow! #mistakerectified. The room was designed and furnished with a touch of yellow, with crisp white walls and linens, and modern amenities like an iPod dock, and a huge flat-panel TV. I opened the room curtains to find a pool on one side and about 40,000 square meters of extremely well maintained gardens on the other. As I took in the decadence of the place, I was sure I wasn’t going to leave all THIS to go for any ‘site-seeing’ or ‘exploring the island’ activities. So, I decided to lay back and enjoy this luxurious pampering.

My first order of things was changing into my swim suit and jumping into the pool right away. After a lazy sun-bathing afternoon, my tummy wanted food. I glanced through the various brochures lying on the side table to look for a food menu and found out that The Legian had a variety of restaurants with cuisines from all over the world. Out of the zillions options in front of me, half of which I couldn’t even pronounce, I ordered White Sauce Pasta from Gino’s Pasta and Pizza Corner and spent the evening laying around and walking through the gardens.

Day 2

After a refreshing day trek to Mount Batur, I came back to the hotel, sweaty and tired, looking forward to a good sleep. But wait, Legian Beach Bali had more in store for me. While giving me my room keys, the bell boy also handed over a spa voucher, my next birthday surprise.  A freaking in-house spa! My next two hours were spent at Usadha Spa, reaching unimagined heights of relaxation. Can you ask for anything more from an evening after a long tiring trek?

As pangs of hunger arose, I chose to eat Indonesian food at Bale Banjar Restaurant with some local music. What a day this turned out to be!

Day 3

Since it was my last day in Bali, I went for a little local sightseeing. I visited Ubud Monkey forest, Agung Rai Museum of Art, Legian Beach and (because my mom had insisted) Tanah Lot – an island temple which had an amazing water view. My evening was spent shaking a leg at the in-house club at Legian Beach Hotel which had an amazing DJ playing. My flight was scheduled at 1 a.m., so after a happening evening at the club, I grabbed a quick bite of Asian food and packed to fly back home.

This is how I remember my first solo trip. I will be the first one to tell you to fly to Bali for this summer and if you decide to listen to me then trust me there CAN’T be a better place to stay than Legian Bali. Well what are you waiting for? Book your own villa now!
