If you are a first-time traveller to this wondrous city, here is a comprehensive guide to making the most of your Singapore trip.

How to get around in Singapore

Buy a Singapore Tourist Pass (STP) that will offer you unlimited travel on buses, trains and metros. It will cost you S$10 for one day, S$16 for two days and S$20 for three days.

Here are the most common modes of transport in Singapore that you could use:

Public Buses

Buses are the best way to get around if you are on a Singapore trip for the first time. The buses are mostly air-conditioned and will take you to the best tourist attractions around the city. You have to tap your STP card on the card reader when you board and once again when you get off the bus. The fare ranges from SGD 0.79 ($0.58) to SGD 2.07 ($1.51).

MRT (Mass Rapid Transit)

The MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) or the metro will take you around the city quickly and conveniently. Using MRT, you can easily reach shopping malls, restaurants, bars and hotels. The fare ranges from SGD 0.78 ($0.58) to SGD 2.03 ($1.51) through the STP card.

Taxis

These are perhaps the easiest modes of transport on a Singapore trip. You can visit places that are not accessible through trains and buses. These can be boarded from taxi stands, nearby malls, hotels or parks. For booking a taxi, you can call on 6-DIAL CAB (6342-5222) number. The fare usually ranges from SGD 3.6 to SGD 3.9.
