A Romantic Rendezvous at Nouf Khyber, Gulmarg: Celebrating Food and Togetherness!

This was one of the most-awaited holidays for me - taking my parents to Jammu and Kashmir. My mother had always cherished the beauty of the state but somehow we were never able to manage a trip there. Last year, things fell in place and my family of four and my parents were on our way to Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir.

We had booked ourselves in Gulmarg’s only true luxury resort – The Khyber Himalayan Resort and Spa, which is known for its astounding views of the snow-covered Affarwat Peaks of the Pir Panjal  Mountain Ranges in the Himalayas. Gulmarg itself is a treat to the eyes with its long stretches of lush green meadows and flowers, easily making it one of the most romantic destinations of the world. There was a magic in the air which we could all feel.

Our rooms were spacious, warm and cosy. I specially loved the bed linen that had beautiful and intricate Kashmiri designs. While we spent time on sight-seeing and marvelling at nature’s charm, kids had an exhilarating time skiing, and we also made full use of the Jacuzzi and the heated pool. It was nice to see my parents bask in these pleasures. But what stood out and will be etched in my memory for a long time is the dinner my parents enjoyed at Nouf, Khyber’s covered-deck terrace restaurant.

It was their 43^rd anniversary and we decided to book a table for them at Nouf. I would say, they got one of the finest tables as they had an excellent view of the shiny clear sky. They spent their evening gazing at the stars and relishing the delicious Wazwan meal that was cooked to perfection. At the end, they were presented with a lovely cake which they both cut amid the applause of the diners. Later, my mom hugged me and said this was one of the best dinners of her life. “The stars never looked this impressive and neither did your dad,” she smiled and said. My heart warmed up with gratitude for having made this trip, for the wonderful resort that Khyber Himalayan Resort is, the captivating ambience at Nouf and the impeccable service of the chef and attendants, who really went all out to make the evening a very special one for my parents.
