LUXURY GETAWAYS
If I am asked to state my best holiday to date, it will indisputably have to be our family holiday at Park Hyatt Goa Resort and Spa.
Goa is a place that we, as a family, have visited several times. So this holiday was planned specifically to unwind and savor the luxury, ambience and hospitality of the resort. No hustle of visiting touristy beaches or scuffle for shopping. And believe me when I say that we had a totally rocking time without even stepping out of the resort for the entire duration of our stay!.
An efficient chauffeur-driven airport pickup brought us to this jaw-dropping oasis.
As someone who is drawn to architecture and design, I fell in love with the beautiful aesthetics of the Portuguese style structure and open layout of the property. The extensive use of wood, rustic building materials, natural daylight, earthy tones and minute attention to landscaping delighted me at first sight.
After the check-in formalities at the grand patio reception, we made our way through the cobbled pathways, catching a glimpse of the expansive property and the pool before reaching our room.
The tastefully decorated room had a large bathroom with a step-down shower area and a balcony (with comfy deck chairs) that opened up to a picture-perfect view of the pool and the beach at a distance. Such a perfect sight!
All four of us couldn't contain our glee at the thought of the delights in store for us.
Being a foodie family, we had signed up for an all-meals-included plan; yes, we planned to quite simply eat, sleep and make merry. After indulging in a rather lavish lunch buffet, we could do little but plonk on the inviting deck chairs under a burst of flaming red flowers (Gulmohurs in full bloom) and gaze at the cool blue pool.
Refreshed by a little rest, we explored the entire resort. The kids were thrilled to discover Camp Hyatt that had a host of activities, especially for the younger one. Hubby eyed the mini-theatre while I was tempted to try the spa facilities. The centrally located swimming pool was pretty large and had slides, waterfalls and a lovely large jacuzzi at the top most level, all in the midst of well-maintained lush greenery.
As the evening set in, we strolled across the elevated wooden pathway running through the verdant manicured grounds with pops of color from heliconia and gladioli under the canopy of graceful coconut trees and finally landed on the beach.
The private beach was expansive and pristine with deckchairs under shady canopies for simply relaxing and soaking in the sun and sea. Basking in the evening sun, we played in the warm waters, scouted for shells, built sand huts and hills and clicked umpteen pictures.
Let me tell you more about the dining pleasures at Park Hyatt Goa. All four of us, amply relished the sumptuous buffet spreads from breakfast, through lunch and dinner. Restaurant Casa Sarita is simply the best! Their buffets have the most incredible array of delicacies and decadent desserts. We even chatted up with the genial Chef Sarita who was out on rounds to ensure that the guests were happy with her kitchen's offerings. Well, we were more than happy, I can say! Over the next three days we spent our time effectively between splashing in the spectacular pool, watching matinees in the mini-theatre, getting pampered at the spa, soaking in the Jacuzzi, chilling out by the poolside bar and reading on the beach. The kids meanwhile had a lovely time creating crafty projects and playing indoor games chaperoned by the amiable staff at Camp Hyatt. Oh and did I mention the food? Yes, I did. But honestly, it was the best ever!
Suffice to say, by the end of our short break we had all fluffed up a bit, what with the sun, sand, fresh air and of course THE FOOD!
Although we were reluctant to leave this paradise we carry in our hearts happy memories of a holiday that pampered all our senses.
Park Hyatt Goa Resort and Spa is an oasis that one seeks to relax and rejuvenate the mind, body and soul. I certainly need to go on another such holiday soon!
