Who says you need to skimp on luxury when you are one with nature? The Tamara, which promises to help you rediscover the joy in being in nature, is a 180-acre property situated amid dense foliage at 3,500–3,700 ft. above mean sea level, with coffee, cardamom, and spice plantations stretching out as far as the eye can see. The whispering rustles of the leaves, chirping birds and gurgling streams that pass by are perhaps the only noises you’d get to hear in this luxury resort.

An Enviable Line-up of Accommodation Options

The Tamara Coorg offers four types of stay options:

Luxury Cottage: The interiors of these double-occupancy living spaces have a muted décor, with pastels furnishing that starkly contrast not only the verdant greens outside the cottages but also the deep brown wooden walls inside them. Among the other little details the property has taken note of are the elevated platforms for the bed and an east-facing private sundeck.

Tariff: Starting from INR 14,600 per night

Super Luxury Cottage: Perched on a cliff top, with a 180° view of the world below, these Super Luxury Cottages afford quite the view. What’s more, the comfortable lounge chairs in the east-facing private sundecks are perfect to sit back in and watch the most soul-stirring performances of the sun at dawn.

Tariff: Starting from INR 31,000 per night

Suite Cottage: Live large in this 900-sq.-ft. space, divided into the living and bedroom areas. Designed to leave you in trance, the room’s balcony is a Zen hub. Zone out from worldly cares as you lounge on the recliner chairs, and while away endless hours gazing into nature.

Tariff: Starting from INR 31,000 per night

Eden Lotus Cottage: Two en-suite bedrooms, a plush and well laid out living room, and an ever-enchanting sundeck with a discrete Jacuzzi looking out into the expanse of the green hillocks—with  privacy in the design of this cottage, this one’s for those who crave exclusivity.

Tariff: Starting from INR 56,250 per night

Things to Do at Tamara Coorg

If you are able to tear yourself away from the soulful solitudes of the cottage and the enchanting vistas around you, The Tamara Coorg has enough activities—indoors and outdoors—to keep you entertained even as you remain one with nature.

Trek a trail towards the Western Ghats

The Tamara Coorg offers two trails to trek towards. The Pathi Pole Fall is a 55-km trek that takes close to 5 hours, including three breaks, through breath-taking slopes and mind-numbingly beautiful valleys.

Another trek to head out to if you can is the Ballyaatre Ridge. Over the ridge line, taking about 6 hours in all, with breaks, this trek takes you to see one of most larger than life views in the land—the skyline of Coorg against the backdrop of Thadianda Mol, the highest mountain in the land, at close to 5,471 ft. above sea level.

Head out to the plantations

Sight some of the most beautiful flora and fauna as you go on a tour through the thick coffee, pepper, and cardamom plantations around the property.

Experience coffee from blossom to brew

Enjoy the aroma of fresh coffee as you participate in the brewing sessions of “Blossom to Brew”, while at The Tamara Coorg. Get to brew your own coffee, or choose to carry it back home as a gift for your loved ones and yourself.

Bird-watching tours for bird lovers

If bird watching is your thing, then the surroundings of The Tamara Coorg have some surprises for you, including the Malabar Grey Hornbill, Scarlet Minivet, Grey Wagtail and Nilgiri Flycatcher.

Take a tour of the “Goushala”

Goushala is the sunny in-house cow barn, with beautiful Warli paintings on its walls, where indigenous breeds of livestock feed on the rich pastureland surrounding the barn. Learn how the goushala helps keep The Tamara Coorg eco-friendly, right from the rich organic milk from the cows, to the waste that is used as manure for the plantations.

Get a lesson on eco-preservation at Manthan

Manthan, the outstanding comprehensive organic waste management system adopted for composting by The Tamara Coorg, is a very effective and efficient way to transform kitchen and garden wastes to nutrients for the soil. Join the resort’s tour guides to see how the plant works and contributes to a sustainable ecosystem.

Enjoy the in-house facilities

Head to the steam and sauna after a long trek, and walk out rejuvenated. Or perhaps you’d like to take a few laps in the temperature-controlled swimming pool. If neither of those work for you, how about burning off some calories in the fitness studio, or play a sport of your choice at the recreation area?

No matter how you choose to spend your time at The Tamara Coorg, rest assured that you’d leave the place blissed out, with an experience of a lifetime.
