The daily rigmarole of city life had begun getting to me. I knew I needed a break, but I couldn’t make up my mind on where to go. Just then, I stumbled upon this great package from MakeMyTrip to Madikeri that promised an exciting trek to Pushpagiri. As someone who loves the hills and the fresh air, the idea instantly appealed to me. There’s no better way to recharge than to embrace the outdoors!

The Lush Green Hills of Coorg

The second highest peak in Coorg, Pushpagiri is a trekker’s delight. Surrounded by dense green forests on all four sides, this trek lets you swathe your senses in pristine natural beauty. Not a cakewalk in the least, the Pushpagiri trek does make you sweat it out with its steep terrain, but is well worth it for the cornucopia of beauty it rewards you with at the end of your climb.

Stay Back at Bhattara Mane

The Pushpagiri trek takes about three to four hours one way and lets you enjoy wet grasslands and fecund forests enroute. While I was with ten other trekkers, three amongst us decided to head back the same day. The rest of us chose to camp at Girigadde and trekked for another four hours to get there. The food at Bhattara Mane was very basic but the views were such a delight, and we had our sleeping bags to keep us warm.

The trek back was equally beautiful, and left me invigorated. I also visited various other places in Madikeri, of which the coffee plantation was pretty much the highlight for me. I was finally ready to go back and take on city life with new zeal and excitement, although I sincerely wished for my holiday to last a bit longer.
