SURPRISE ME!
The United Arab Emirates remains one of the most preferred International destinations for Indian tourists, with over a million thronging the country every year for its pristine beaches, architectural marvels, shopping avenues and the spectacular fireworks show on New Year’s Eve.
Much to our delight, the UAE cabinet has recently announced that Indian passport holders with a valid American visa or Green Card will be eligible for a visa-on-arrival to the country. The tourist visa will be valid for a period of 14 days, with scope for a single extension at an additional fee.
In order to qualify for the visa-on-arrival scheme, Indian citizens will be required to possess a visa or Green Card issued by the United States of America, valid for a minimum of six months.
The decision is a two-pronged strategy to boost economic, trade and political relationships between India and UAE, as well as to project UAE as a global tourist destination. The conditional inclusion of Indian tourists in the visa-on-arrival category is based on the huge influx of Indian visitors to the country. In 2016 alone, a whopping 1.6 million Indians visited the UAE.
The move is being appreciated by Indian residents and non-resident Indians alike, as it paves way for hassle-free travels.
