You may know that your sun sign recounts your personality traits and tries to predict your future, but did you know that they also tell a lot about your vacation style for optimum happiness? Aries

You are adventurous and outgoing. You love to travel and explore. As you are full of energy, you want to experience everything. A passionate fire sign, you are so active, you almost make it difficult for your co-travellers to match up with your enthusiasm levels. However, a drawback of this level of energy is the fear of burnout. So, I advise you to take frequent breaks. Spa holidays, meditation-oriented trips or a quiet, leisurely vacation in between the adrenaline-packed trips are ideal ways to keep you recharged.

I say: You will be happiest at destinations that have lots of activities to do, preferably outdoor ones. Down under in Australia, the Chadar trek in Ladakh or Mantalai trek in Himachal Pradesh are some places that will keep your adrenalin high.  

Taurus

As you are a careful planner you want your trips to be perfectly planned. In fact, if truth be told, you get upset if things are not planned properly. You diligently invest time in preparing for a trip. Luxury is always on your mind. You want to get the best comfort and shelling out money to make the trip fancy is never a problem. Preparation and planning equals a happy Taurean.

I say: Five star hotel stays are a must to keep Taureans delighted. Explore royal Rajasthan on the luxurious Palace on Wheels or stay at one of Goa’s finest plush hotels for your dream holiday.  

Gemini

You want to see the world and explore. Geminis get bored very easily so weekend breaks are the best as they are quick and crazy, just like you. Long trips will never hold your interest. You love to hop from one thing to another and so a destination that offers all extremes is perfect for you. You are curious and quick and need more. You have the true essence of a traveller for you are never satiated. You love everything - the sea, desert, hill, forest…in fact, you can never make a decision about what you like best!

I say: You are a true backpacker!. A destination like Bali that offers it all - a bit of history, culture, food, beach and nightlife is your ideal holiday hotspot.  

Cancer

You are a family person and you don’t want to travel alone. You prefer to take the whole family or gang along. If you know a Cancerian you will agree that they are a bit of couch potatoes. Thus, it is a task in itself to convince and pull them out. Travelling is not exactly in their comfort zone. However, if finally the impossible is done and they agree to travel it must be properly planned and homely. They want a home away from home. Comfort is their primary requirement. They are quite safety conscious and prefer to travel to secure destinations, painstakingly following all the safety precautions.

I say: Cancerians, leave your comfort zone and get going. Take risks for some excitement. Travel gives you oppurtunities to create funny, embarrassing and shocking memories so don’t miss those! For a change, go on an African safari or head to Goa during Sunburn Festival. Do something wild!  

Leo

Leos, the lions hit the road with panache. Leos love fame and do everything in a larger than life style. I am not exaggerating, if I say you love to show off and this reflects on your choice of destination for travelling. To put it straightforwardly, places that make others jealous is your first choice, something like Italy and Switzerland. Friends are a must in your trips. As you are born leaders, you are known to take the lead and drive the trip your way.

I say: Something grand, something majestic. For your next holiday, how about vistiting the Alps in Switzerland or the Collosseum in Rome?  

Virgo

You are very organised, systematic and a stickler for routine. You want a meticulously planned trip otherwise you are up for some distress. You enjoy both travelling alone or with a group. Alongwith a Virgo, you can be assured of a sensible trip and not the one where you forget to get up in the morning and miss the bus. Virgos are usually seen as eco-friendly people connected closely to nature.

I say: Choose customised tours that allow you to be close to Mother Earth to have the most memorable trip. Ayurvedic holidays or yoga retreats are ideal for you. Libra

Balance is the mantra of Librans. Your sun sign says that you are eternal lovers. Destinations that speak of love are best suited for you. You want fine things in life so budgeted travels don’t interest you much. You prefer luxury and love to splurge! You must be cautious with money management when on a trip or btter yet, give the financial responsibility to your partner. You are a good critic and an appreciator. You have an eye for detail. Artistic places, classy candle light dinners, fivestar hotel stays and larger than life experiences impress you the most.

I say: Paris, London and Bahamas. The more exotic the better if you want to really have a ‘happy’ holiday.  

Scorpio

Scorpions love seduction and their travel destination should be seductive enough to hold their attention. A destination need not necessarily be famous or exotic; you will be equally happy with lesser known places for it is the experience that matters the most for you.

I say: Go deep into the jungles of Ranthambhore or climb challenging hills in Himachal Pradesh. Find out less travelled places for in their quaintness lies their charm! How about the charming Yamdrok Yumtso lake in Tibet or Rainforests of Malaysia?  

Sagittarius

You are perpetually curious and travelling for you is yet another learning process. You are like a sponge who soaks in everything you see and experience. You want to know everything – why, what, when and how. So it is best to buy a good guidebook and keep your inquisitive mind satisfied. You are a fiercely independent traveller, which comes naturally to you. You have no qualms about planned or unplanned trips, known or unknown places; you just love to travel. It is apt to call you a nomad and wanderer.

\I say: I am not exaggerating if I say Sagittarians are true travellers. You just need your backpack and off you go in your quest. On your next adventure, head out to Chakouri, Knysna, Cape Agulhas or the Valley of Flowers. Some ideas to poke your travel instinct.  

Capricorn

It is difficult to pull Capricorns out for fun travel since they are always too busy. However, when you do finally find time to go on a trip there isn’t a better trip organiser than you. Finance management on a trip invariably falls on your responsible shoulders and you do manage it so well.You love to travel with a group. You are fun and easy going. Your priority on a trip is to put your feet up and relax.

I say: Free the clutter out of your schedule now and go out on trips more often. You know you enjoy these breaks and when you come back you will berejenuvated and charged to do better at the workplace. So are you convinced enough now? Go to Bangkok and enjoy a relaxing Thai spa or just relax in the pristine sands of Pondicherry.  

Aquarius

Aquarians are social with great communication skills. You love to go to clubs and happening places where you can make friends out of complete strangers. A stimulating environment is ideal for you. I say: Places with a happening nightlife and the opportunity to socialise with fellow travellers is just right for you. Goa and Bangkok are two of my recommendations where you can meet pretty much any and every kind of traveller!  

Pisces

You are a dreamer. You are least bothered about things like logistics and budget, that is best left for others. You go with the flow and dream away. Your love for music, dance and art lure you and travel. You like to travel to places that are dreamlike and have a strong cultural influence. A word of caution here, because you are so emotional, you must stay safe from con artists and fake sellers on your trips. You are an easy bait for them. Pisces is a water sign. Swimming, fishing, and diving excite you the most on any trip. Needless to say, water bodies coax and cajole you.
