Wine-Tasting at the Sula Vineyards Made My Weekend Utterly Delightful

The past decade of my life has whizzed past in a mix of preparing presentations, meeting deadlines, working overtime and constantly trying to ace appraisals to climb up the corporate ladder. A much-awaited promotion, therefore came as a stamp of approval that my efforts had finally paid off. I wanted to celebrate by pampering myself with luxe getaway but taking time off for an extended holiday was a luxury I could not afford. Hence, this two-day wine trail and tasting trip in Nashik that could be squeezed into a long weekend seemed like the perfect fit.

Wine Trail and Tasting

The trip began on a high note as we were picked up from a pre-appointed destination and driven off to a luxury 5-star hotel in the vicinity of the famous Sula Vineyards. The lush green environs and cool breeze were like a balm for my rather tattered soul. Strolling through the vine plantations—which I had been gazing at from the distance—and sampling different wines along the way seemed like the perfect climax to this much-anticipated holiday. But the party had only just begun. An informative tour of the winery and insights into the nuances of wine-making, viticulture and so on, definitely turned out to be a lot more fun than I had imagined. The real highlight of the trip for me, however, was a delectable authentic meal at this Italian restaurant tucked away in the heart of rolling vineyards. The combination of Italian food with wine, and the serene surroundings all came together to create that perfect unwinding ambience.

Other Highlights

Since the vineyard tour and wine tasting were all covered within a single day, I decided to use the rest of my time doing the typical touristy things. I started with an indulgent spa treatment at the hotel, and then visited the famous Kalaram Temple on recommendations of the locals. This was followed by a pit-stop at Panchvati, visiting the fabled Sita Gufaa, and then some quiet time with myself on the banks of river Godavari before heading back home.

It turned out be just the kind of rejuvenating getaway that I need a lot more than I realised. Thanks to MakeMyTrip for planning it so flawlessly.
