The Char Dham Yatra is a journey of a lifetime and attracts millions of pilgrims every year, both from India and globally.


The Yatra usually starts from Yamunotri, the westernmost shrine, and then moves on to Gangotri, Kedarnath, and finally ends at Badrinath, the northernmost shrine. Chardham yatra package is also available for this duration for the tourists.

Yamunotri

Yamunotri is the source of the Yamuna River, which is one of the most sacred rivers in India. The shrine is located at an altitude of 3,291 meters and can be reached by a trek of 6 km from the town of Janki Chatti. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Yamuna and has a hot water spring called Surya Kund, where the pilgrims can cook rice and potatoes as an offering to the deity. 


Gangotri  

Gangotri is the source of the river Ganga, which is considered the holiest river in India. The shrine is located at an altitude of 3,100 meters and can be reached by a trek of 19 km from the town of Harsil. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Ganga and has a breath-taking waterfall called Gauri Kund nearby.


Kedarnath 

Kedarnath is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva and is located at an altitude of 3,500 meters. The shrine can be reached by a trek of 16 km from the town of Gaurikund. The kedarnath temple is dedicated to Lord Kedarnath and has a conical stone structure, which is believed to be a form of Lord Shiva.


Badrinath

Badrinath is one of the four Char Dham places and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The shrine is located at an altitude of 3,133 meters and can be reached by a trek of 3 km from the town of Badrinath. Badrinath temple has a black stone statue of Lord Vishnu, which is considered to be one of the eight self-manifested statues of Lord Vishnu.


The Char Dham Yatra is not just a physical journey, but also a spiritual one. The Yatra is usually undertaken during the months of April to November and is a test of one's physical and mental strength.


The pilgrimage to Kedarnath for the year 2024 is scheduled to open on May 10th and will remain accessible until mid-September. The best time to visit Kedarnath is between April and June, when the weather is pleasant and comfortable for pilgrims. Devotees can plan a trip accordingly.
