You can reach the city of Kolar in Karnataka by covering around 55 kilometres from the capital city of Bengaluru. The city's gold mines and dairy industry have made it famous throughout history. At the moment, it is one of the largest milk producers in the world and the largest in South India. Once known as the sacred Avantika-Kshetra, this ancient settlement is renowned for its many places of worship. The districts of Bangalore Rural and Chikballapur are to its west, Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh to its east, and Krishnagiri and Vellore in Tamil Nadu to its south.
