Sonipat

Shambhu Nath, the hamlet of Nahri in the District of Sonipat has a rich history dating back thousands of years to when Baba Puranmal, the son of King Salewan of Sialkot, arrived there to meditate and find enlightenment. Around the village of Nahri, where many ancient trees of the Gular, Peepal, Bargad, Janti, etc. species still stand, there was once a dense forest. It was here that saints like Baba Kude Nath and Maan Data Nath came to practise "Tapasya" and find enlightenment.

The Mama Bhanja Dargah represents harmony between Hindus and Muslims. Legend has it that a temple stood on this site many decades ago. The Garhi Brahmana priest still places the cloth covering over the Dargah as the first act of respect. There has never been any kind of racial, ethnic, or religious strife or friction in this area again. It has come to represent unity and respect amongst people of different faiths and cultures.

During the reign of Giyasuddin Balban of the Slave dynasty (1272–1374), the Abdullah Nasir Ud Din Mosque was constructed. To the renowned saint Abdullah Basir Ud Din, who was the genuine successor of Mushid of Iran, this mosque is dedicated. Located on the edges of modern-day Sonipat lies this historic hotspot.

One can find the large adventure park of Jurasik Park in Sonipat on National Highway 1 (GT Karnal Road). Set about 40 kilometres from New Delhi, it covers an area of 22 acres. The Baba Dham Mandir is the most frequented temple in the city, and it is dedicated to Sai Baba of Shirdi. People come from all over the world to see it because of its religious significance. A short distance from the Sonipat Railway station and in the heart of the city is where you'll find this temple.

During the reign of Ibrahim Lodhi, the son of Darya Khan constructed his mausoleum, Khwaja Khizr. In addition to being one of the rare monuments built entirely out of sandstone and kankar stones, this edifice also benefits from its own raised platform. The Archaeological Survey of India has taken responsibility for the upkeep of this structure and its surrounding four acres of gardens.
