Covering an area of 400 square kilometres, the Phang Nga Bay is a National Park that is home to many beautiful small islands. A cruise to the famed James Bond Island, or Koh Khao Phing Kan, is one of the most popular activities to indulge in on your visit to Phang Nga. Lying 25 kilometres north-east of Phuket, this picturesque island is truly a wonder of nature and the limestone rock formations here seem to rise from the waters.
A number of scenes from the James Bond movie starring Roger Moore and Christopher Lee were shot here, after which the island got its name. As the shape of the island is broad from the top and relatively slim from the bottom, you are not allowed to go very close to it. You can, therefore, capture its views by taking a boat trip from the northern end of Phuket or from the beach at Koh Ping Ghan Island. As you take a cruise to James Bond Island, you can also explore nearby areas like a Muslim fishing village and some spots that offer activities like swimming and snorkelling. The beachside of the island also offers an array of shopping options. Once you get there, you are sure to be enchanted!
Tip to Remember: Avoid picking up sea shells from the bay to help protect the natural surroundings.
