With the fine white sand, the nodding palm trees and the glittering seas, Phuket is home to one of the finest beaches in the world. Aside from visiting the largest island in Thailand rightly known as ‘The Pearl of the South’, there are number of activities which one can do, like taking an exciting speed-boat trip to the nearby islands, including the famous Phi Phi Island, or revelling in the beauty of the mystical Phang Nga Bay.

Day 1: Explore the Delights of Patong Beach

A quick tip to make your stay as comfortable as possible is to make sure that your hotel is not too far from the beach, since the main highlight of Phuket is its coastline. The most popular beach resorts in Phuket are located in Patong Beach, which is known for its serene vibe during the day and its bustling nightlife by the evening. There are enough activities going on here to keep people of all ages busy, like stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, snorkelling, scuba diving etc. The nights are filled with drinks and dancing, making it the perfect place to end your day. While here, do not miss the Illuzion Show & Discotheque, which is one of the most exciting night spots in Patong. For food, head straight to Joe’s Downstairs which serves a modern contemporary international cuisine. It is also known for its outstanding sundowner spot for cocktails and small bites.

Day 2: Get a Taste of Local Life at Phuket Town

Another popular part of Phuket is the Phuket Town. Since it is centrally located, it is easy to get to from anywhere in Phuket. Phuket Town is often disregarded in favour of the beaches, but there is a lot going on here as well. Plan to spend an entire day at the town, so that you can see the stoic monks in the morning on the streets while taking in the smell of the fresh produce being sold at the open market. The Weekend Market (locally known as Naka Market) is one of the more famous markets selling second-hand goods, knick-knacks, live animals and some great local food to sample.

Day 3: Revel in the Beauty of Phi Phi Island

A visit to the famous Phi Phi Islands is an absolute must when in Phuket. Not only will it remind you of movies like ‘The Beach’, but for some, it is also the only reason for a touchdown in Phuket. The islands are seen almost rising from the sea like a castle, affording breathtaking views of the jungle covering the beach. The two islands—Phi Phi Leh and Phi Phi Don—are a favourite amongst tourists because they are completely uninhabited. Snorkelling and diving sites are present here, but if underwater action is not something you are looking for, try your hand at rock climbing.

Day 4: Capture the Sceneries at Phang Nga Bay

One may not be too familiar with Phang Nga Bay as one would be with the famous ‘James Bond Island’. The island is actually a part of the bay, and formed the backdrop for the movie ‘James Bond: The Man with the Golden Gun’. The island’s signature rocky pinnacle is a sight to behold.  The best way to relish the scenery of the steep limestone karsts projecting straight up out of the water is to take a boat ride from the northern end of Phuket. Canoes are available for paddling here. Koh Panyee is a Muslim fishing village close by and is a great place to grab a bite.
