After months of being locked down at home, I finally dared to escape to the hills with my travel buddies. We were a group of 8 who had had enough of stay-at-home blues. However, we were consciously aware of the effects of the pandemic. So, we researched about most of the guidelines laid down by WHO before hitting the road.
As a precautionary step, each of us got an RT-PCR test done, and luckily we all tested negative. Finally, on a busy Friday morning, we set out early for Jibhi in a tempo traveller, before the office crowd could take over the streets.
The journey was smooth and fun, as we tried not to take many breaks in order to avoid unnecessary exposure to crowds. We carried enough food and water along with the necessary hygiene stuffs like soap, sanitizer and masks.
After a 9-hour long drive when we reached our destination, we were mesmerized by the beauty of the place. Jibhi is a beautiful place near Banjar Valley of Kullu District, in Himachal Pradesh. It is a part of the beautiful Himalayan National Park and is a must visit destination for all nature lovers.
We had booked our stay in advance at Wayward Inn Homestay, a quaint property located on Sojha Road in Jibhi. The homestay was an excellent pick with a serene view of the valley.
To add up to our satisfaction, the owners were very particular about cleanliness and hygiene. They followed all COVID prevention guidelines laid down by the government. We just didn’t miss the comfort of home.
Over the next two days, we enjoyed the local scenery and visited some of the famous tourist hotspots. Our first stop was the beautiful Jalori Pass, where we spent a pleasant afternoon on the hill top.
The next day, we walked to the much noted Jibhi waterfall which is just about a kilometre from the Jibhi village. We splashed around in the cold water and clicked some memorable photographs together.
Apart from the natural beauty, we relished the mouth-watering local delicacies. Overall, our 3-day stay at Jibhi was rejuvenating, and each of us cheered the idea of escaping to the hills.
If you are contemplating a post-lockdown trip, plan a quick getaway into the nature. You are sure to relish it!
