Want To Go ?

Just like any modern day couple these days, My hubby and I could take time off from work but we sure wanted to celebrate our anniversary in a special way. One day was all that we could afford to take off for, as we were preserving the rest of our leave for a longer vacation later in the year. That is when we decided to make it special by playing tourist in our own city – Bengaluru. We decided that we needed to just get away from home and treat ourselves to a luxury stay. Since we did not want to head out too far, we decided to check into a hotel within the city center. Vivanta by Taj on MG Road seemed to be just ideal for this – neither too far from home nor too near and yet within the city – close enough for us to play tourist.

Booking this hotel was quite a breeze and when we walked in, the smiling staff checked us in smoothly. I loved our Superior Charm room right from the moment we entered. Contemporary yet grand, overlooking the Bengaluru metro and yet away from the hustle bustle of the town, this room was our own private haven. A small welcome note kept at the desk greeted us and congratulated us on our anniversary.  After a quick change, we set out to explore the surroundings.

The biggest plus of this hotel was its location. We had a plethora of options for our entertainment to choose from and all within walking distance. We started with some mall hopping from 1 M.G to Lido mall, right opposite the hotel and even caught a movie together. We then walked back to the hotel to have a luxurious dinner at their Memories of China restaurant. Each dish that we ordered was a delight to sample – the fresh ingredients were evident in every spoon. With a quick stop at their bakery, we retired to our room to enjoy a bottle of wine and usher in another year of our marriage.

The next morning started with a quick walk around the lovely Ulsoor lake, which was right behind the hotel. The fresh morning breeze had our stomachs rumbling and the breakfast at Vivanta by Taj quickly took care of that. With a royal spread of dishes from all parts of the world, we were soon confused and spoiled for choice. I don’t think we have ever spent so much time enjoying a meal as we did at that breakfast – not just owing to the spread but also, the venue – the poolside of Vivanta by Taj.

The gorgeous, sparkling water beckoned us and we lounged around the entire afternoon soaking up the sun in the pool. The hotel also offered us a quick walking tour of Bengaluru but we were so content with the comfort within the hotel that we declined and decided to stay put. After a lot of lounging, we opted for our respective spa treatments. This was one luxurious experience - a treat to all my senses - be it the actual treatment, the smell of the heavenly ingredients used or the soothing ambiance of the spa. They truly know how to make you feel like royalty.

I was already pampered and spoilt- so much that I wished we had one more day of our staycation left to enjoy. Sadly, as they say all good things must end and so did this. We checked out the next morning and bid goodbye to the amazing staff, some of whom went out of their way to make this a special and memorable anniversary for us.
