If you’re looking for a place that is luxurious and not too far from India, consider Krabi in Thailand. What to See

Krabi is less popular and therefore less crowded than Koh Samui and Phuket and that’s what makes it an ideal honeymoon destination. It’s secluded yet there are many things to see and do around the island. Hire a boat (or hop on to a ferry) and head out to Railey Beach – one of Thailand’s most beautiful beaches. Surrounded by huge limestone cliffs with a lush forest in the background, the beach, which is only accessible by boat, has a deserted island feel to it. You can go rock-climbing, kayaking or snorkelling. Or better yet, just laze around on the beach! Maya Bay, where the film The Beach was filmed is another must-visit place and also any diver’s dream. Your honeymoon in Krabi is incomplete without a visit to the Viking Cave at Phi Phi Islands  where you can get a taste of the popular bird’s nest soup. Kai Island, which has a rooster-shaped rock (hence the name Chicken Island), is another must-see island in Krabi.

What to Do

Krabi’s main beach Ao Nang and the neighbouring Noppharat Thara beach are the most happening spots with all the action. Go snorkelling amongst the mesmerising corals and you’ll see marine diversity like nowhere else. There are several dive shops so you can go scuba diving here or opt for some outstanding cavern diving at the Ko Ha Yao islands close by. You can also take customised day trips or camping trips to nearby islands or hop on a speedboat to Hin Daeng and Hin Muang from where you could catch a glimpse of whale sharks and manta rays. Krabi is very close to Phuket and can make a great base if you want to explore other islands in the vicinity including Phi Phi’s Bamboo Island – a picture-perfect paradise on earth. Krabi’s only national park – Khao Phanom Pencha National Park – is full of untouched forests, waterfalls, streams and caves, not to mention a variety of flora and fauna. After you’ve had your fill of the natural beauty on offer, visit Krabi Town for a spot of shopping and more attractions such as the Tiger Cave Monastery and Shell Fossil Cemetery.
