Strawberry Picking and Paragliding at Mahabaleshwar

Driving down to Mahabaleshwar with the family on a weekend is one of my fondest memories from the last year. It was truly a weekend planned fabulously and lived up completely! From picking strawberries in the farms to paragliding above the peaks of the Sahyadri Range, it turned out to be an interesting family vacay!

Gliding like a bird

After the 5 hour drive from Mumbai, we spent the first day relaxing at the hotel. Day 2 was dedicated to pure thrill, with the paragliding expedition at Kamshet. We were picked up from the hotel for the experience and met our instructor. I was a little scared initially, because soaring high up with the eagles with a view of the Sahyadri mountain ranges all around seemed unnerving. I was definitely nervous, but the professional instructor helped me calm down. The first few seconds when I was rising up felt terrifying, but the remaining 10 minutes ended up being one of the best 10 minutes of my life!

The Highlight: Strawberry Picking at the Farm

We headed out after breakfast to the nearby fields because who doesn’t like a fresh morning at the farm? The sun was warm, there was a slight chill in the air and we were surrounded by strawberry farms all around. We learnt how to choose and pick the juiciest strawberries, ate ice cream made from the fruit we plucked, and picked up some jam bottles as souvenirs.

A winter weekend spent enjoying nature’s bounty made this a memorable trip. Thank you once again, MakeMyTrip for this experiential package that made a fun-filled family vacation.
