Desert safaris in Rajasthan are a big draw for adventure seekers and wildlife enthusiasts. While I too wanted to lap up this experience, I did not want to do it the mainstream way. The Kumbhalgarh night safari package by MakeMyTrip presented the perfect alternative, and made for an outing of a lifetime.

The Thrilling Night Safari

Embarking on a night safari, and the prospect of spotting exotic animals such as grey wolves, leopards and wild boars out in the wild, was as thrilling as it gets. We set out for the night safari after dinner. The massive fort is surrounded by a distinctive topography, that further lends a semblance of invincibility to the Fort. The dense forest around the Fort is known for its population of leopards, wolves, gazelles, deer and sloth bears. Driving through the maze of this jungle, and the sounds of wild animals in the background, made for a nail-biting, hair-raising experience. We clicked endless photos as we drove past the iconic walls of the Fort.

Soaking in History, Culture and Stories

The other big highlight of our trip was an excursion to the Kumbhalgarh Fort, a UNESCO world heritage site. With a boundary of imposing wall structures, it is said to be the second largest in the world, after the Great Wall of China. We also squeezed a day-visit to the Jain Temples into our schedule, and took a day safari through the forests surrounding the Desuri village. The four-day trip concluded with a four-hour drive to Jodhpur, from where we took our connecting flight back home, armed with splendid memories of our experiential holiday.
