FOOD & SHOPPING
Part of the appeal of a themed restaurant is that the focus is not so much on the food as it is on the ambiance and experience. India has some quirky pit-stops that will not only guarantee a fun dining experience but will also ensure enviable Instagram-worthy clicks. Foodies all across India—here are six of the quirkiest eateries where your freaky foodie flag must fly high!
Fancy eating in a jail? Turns out there are many who do! Reviews show how much the customers love the experience that Kaidi Kitchen has to provide. It’s strange, it’s quirky, and it’s definitely a whole lot of fun! The head staff at Kaidi Kitchen adorns uniforms of the police force, while the waiters are dressed as jail inmates. Seating areas are designed as locker cells where customers sit behind bars, and eat out of steel plates. Quite an arresting experience we say!
Location: Next to St. Ebbas School, 20/3, Bishop Wallers Avenue West, CIT Colony, Mylapore, Chennai

Are you a Bhai fan? Then Bhaijaanz in Mumbai must be high on your bucket list! The restaurant has been opened by a die-hard Salman fan—a fact that is more than clearly evident in the décor and menu. Electronic screens and TV sets play songs and movie clips of Salman Khan, and huge posters surround the diners as they gorge on biryanis and kebabs. The menu has dishes named after Bhai movies, like 'Anda Apna Apna', 'Ek Garam Chai Ki Pyali Ho' and 'Salaam-e-Sandwich'. It’s quite obvious that this Sultan is here to steal our hearts.
Location: G2, White Rose Building, Rizvi Complex, Sherly Rajan Road, Carter Road, Bandra West, Mumbai
The name itself is enough to tell us that this should be the cool new hangout for fans of the dark secrets of the seas. It’s not just the décor, but also the bar menu that is heavily inspired by pirates. Life-size sculptures, weapons of war, wood panelled interiors and dim lighting create the perfect atmosphere, but it’s the cocktails that deserve a special shoutout. Signature rum-based cocktails like Pirate's Tea and Caribbean Smuggler have found many fans. This pirate-themed restaurant serves some mouth-watering seafood, and the paan ice cream served here is not to be missed.
Location: 7 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.; 105, 1st A Cross Road, Jyothi Nivas College Road, Koramangala 5th Block, Bangalore
Bollywood buffs will love this one for the dramatic experience because 70MM is all about melodrama, music and masala. From Devdas to DDLJ, posters of all iconic Bollywood movies adorn the walls, and the retro colours and décor provide the pop of colour required to complete the ultimate cinematic canvas. Legendary movies have been immortalized in the décor of this restaurant, and some famous Hindi flicks are screened here even today. Looks like 70MM is just what this country of Bollywood-loving foodies needed.

Guests can enjoy their meals as if on board a flight, with the only difference being that unlike actual airline food, the food here will have you licking your fingers for a long, long time.
