I don’t think I majorly had any blues as such, but yes I was craving to catch a break for a long time.
However, I didn’t regret being stuck at home for months because it taught me cooking... haha!
Having a busy schedule doesn’t leave me with much scope to travel every weekend or in a fortnight. So, for such cravings, I go for staycations – that’s my mini-vacation! It’s been 6 years that I am going for staycays religiously. I see a lot of people say that what’s the point of going to a hotel to stay there wherein you can travel to another city and explore numerous places. Well, I agree, but both are entirely different experiences. One who has experienced both can only tell.
The idea of a staycation is to have all-day to yourself and chill without worrying about cooking, cleaning and other chores, away from all the distractions you have at home.
I wanted to stay in Andaz Delhi – a concept by Hyatt, Aerocity, as I had stayed there before and got impressed with the variety of room views and the luxurious hospitality this place has to offer you. By calling them to understand their hygiene and cleanliness practices, I figured out that the hotel was not allotting rooms to other guests for 72 hours after the check-out to get it adequately sanitized and again leave it empty for another 24 hours. None of the restaurants in the hotel was operational. There was a selected menu for each day shown on TV screen in the rooms; breakfast buffets were also not functional to avoid gatherings. All these measures were very efficient and effective in making sure there is no unnecessary contact between the guests and the staff.
So, I booked the hotel online through MMT and got a good package deal which was inclusive of 2-time meals. I opted for contactless check-in – wherein you can upload the ID proof’s copy on MMT’s app, or you can directly mail it to the hotel. As soon as I reached the hotel, I got myself upgraded to a suite which had runway view.
It was a lovely suite having a dining table, a living room, and a master bedroom attached to massive bathroom space. I was jumping from bed to sofa unable to control my excitement looking at such mesmerising runway view. Looking at aeroplanes taking off every 20-30 minutes was the most thrilling part about my stay.
I enjoyed a long bubble bath after unpacking my bags, binge-watched a few episodes of FRIENDS on TV, ordered some delicious items from the menu and dressed up and clicked some happy pictures in the room. After having lunch, I went downstairs to roam around in the property.
It’s a theme-based 5-star property which has everything conceptualized as per the lifestyle of Delhi. I again clicked a few photographs, made videos at different spots in the hotel, and headed to the indoor garden for some fresh air.
After a FaceTime dancing session with my friends, took a hot shower, blow-dried my hair – pampered myself a little by applying skin hydration masks and relished on pizza, spaghetti, momos, mocktail, and pastries for dinner. Did I mention, the staff didn’t enter the room while bringing the food. They all were wearing the masks, face shield, gloves and would deliver the food right outside the room. The food was in a hot movable oven which looked like a mini-refrigerator, which was good as I didn’t have to worry about my food getting cold and tasteless.
What a fun stay it was! Staycations are all about you pampering yourself with the best available amenities. You don’t have to stress about anything – your food, towel, toothbrush, slipper everything you need is a call away. You can lay in a bed all day, roam around and explore the property. It is all so therapeutic!
It’s been a month I have been to Hyatt, and I’ve already started planning my next trip. So, until you hear from me about my next vacay or staycay, keep exploring to feed your soul!
