Spring is my favorite season of the year, as I can’t have enough of the blooming flowers! Though I have visited several flower parks and botanical gardens in India, nothing compares to the showstopping Cherry Blossom and the variety of rare flowers that I witnessed in Japan!

Sakura, the Cherry Blossom Flower

Small cherry blossom flowers, called Sakura in Japanese, takes the crown for being the most spectacular display in Japan! It turns every part of Japan pink – starting from the warmer places in South and progressing North, living for hardly two weeks at any location!

Meguro River View

This is the view from the banks of the Meguro river, which is located quite close to my office. A stroll along the river banks, filled with cherry blossom flowers on both sides, is pure bliss! The local shops also plan a small festival to enjoy the season while relishing traditional Japanese snacks!

Boating at Chidorigafuji

Another spot that I love in Japan is the Chidorigafuji Park, located near the Indian embassy in Tokyo. Boating in the Imperial Palace moat, surrounded by Cherry Blossoms on all sides is a surreal experience! It is followed by food and drinks at the Yasukuni Jinja garden nearby!

Fuji Shiba-Sakura Festival

Ashikaga Flower Park

I visited another famous festival called “A Tale of Wisteria” in mid-May, showcasing hundreds of Wistria trees and thousands of azaleas in full bloom! The Wisteria tree behind me is 143 years old!

I was also impressed by the variety of other flowers they had!

The big “tent”of Wisteria, illuminated with millions of LEDs made the experience magical!

Later I strolled around the park watching blooming azaleas, where a beautiful pyramid was made in the middle of a pond.

In the evening, the vivid sky along with colourful flowers offered a breathtaking view! I enjoyed the view till sunset and then headed back to Tokyo!
