Heritage Walk

The palace has so many intriguing stories that are revealed during the Heritage Walk. The walk is usually conducted by the personal butlers whose warmth and knowledge can highly impress you. Marvel at the palm court marble which is the same as that of the iconic Taj Mahal or check out the quirky clocks that adorn the walls. If you are a car lover, you will enjoy the collection of the royal family’s vintage cars right in the front of the museum. The walk is usually followed by a cultural show where you enjoy local artists perform, over yummy small eats and drinks.

Stay Amidst the Best of Luxury

All the 64 guest rooms owned by Taj Group have been furnished in the Art Deco style and each room has something out-of-the-world to offer. For instance, the Historical Suites come with an exclusive sitting area that offers fascinating views of the lawn or the courtyard, while Royal Suites offer stunning views of the Mehrangarh Fort. The Maharaja and Maharani Suites blow you away by their sheer sizes, which is about 4200 square feet each and come with separate dining rooms that can seat about 10 people. You can even enjoy in-room massages in the suite’s glass tiled bathrooms with private steam rooms.

But what takes your breath away is their communal indoor pool which was supposed to be used by the royal ladies once upon a time. It is massive and decorated with hand-painted murals, candles and rose petals. Whether you choose to use the indoor or the outdoor pool, they will pamper you with drinks and snack baskets. Be prepared to sit back and let yourself loose.

Do You Know How Umaid Bhawan’s Construction Began?

It seems Jodhpur was hit by severe famine in the 1920s, and it was then that Maharaja Umaid Singh decided to build this palace to give employment to his people. The construction began in 1929 and finished in 1943, ensuring that people were thoroughly employed throughout. Today, the 347-roomed palace is divided into three parts: one where the royal family still resides—making it one of the rare royal homes in the world, second a royal family museum, and third the luxurious Taj Palace hotel, where you can book a stay for yourself and bask in its grandeur and ambience.
