With a total fleet of 128 aircrafts, Air India connects to almost all domestic destinations in the country. Some of the major destinations include Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Guwahati, Goa and Visakhapatnam.
Air India domestic baggage allowance
All Air India flights have three classes of travel – first, business and economy. The checked baggage allowance for each differs. For passengers travelling in the first class, a total of 40kg is allowed. For those in the business class, only 35kg is allowed. The checked baggage allowance for passengers in the economy class is 25kg. Infants in all these classes are allowed to carry 10kg as checked baggage. These criteria are only based on the Air India allowance for domestic flights.
Hand baggage allowance for domestic Air India flights is up to 8kg and the dimensions should not exceed 115cm. The height should not be more than 55cm, the length must not be more than 35cm and width, and not more than 25 cm. Infants are allowed one collapsible stroller as carry-on baggage.
For excess carry-on baggage, passengers would have to pay INR 500 per kg with additional GST charge. However, after paying extra for additional baggage, passengers must note that only 10kg would be allowed, even if they are carrying duty-free items.
If the hand baggage is more than 10kg, the passenger cannot take it in the cabin and would have to add that with the check-in/carry-on baggage. Apart from that, one can carry a lady’s hand bag, an overcoat, camera, blanket, medicines and a laptop along with the carry-on Air India baggage allowance.
On all Air India flights, carrying Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is banned. Moreover, power banks are not allowed as hand baggage but as check-in baggage.
