Established in 1971, the park is a part of the Bannerghatta National Park and is renowned for its rich biodiversity.

The park is home to a variety of flora and fauna, including elephants, leopards, jackals, foxes, wild boars, sloth bears, and a variety of birds. The park also houses India's first butterfly park, which is home to over 20 species of butterflies.
