Seek blessings at the two temples dedicated to Ranganadha Swami and Dattatreya Swami at the foot of the waterfall. It also forms a pond where crocodiles are bred.

This natural spectacle is formed by the confluence of three streams, namely Chandravanka Vagu, Nakkala Vagu and Tummala Vagu. The falls are a part of the River Krishna basin, and the water eventually flows into the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam. The name 'Ethipothala' is derived from the Sanskrit words 'Etitaposthal', meaning 'lift and pour'.
