Maitreya Buddha is a revered figure in Buddhism and is believed to be the future Buddha who will appear on Earth to restore the teachings of Buddhism and bring peace and enlightenment to humanity. In Nubra Valley, there is a famous 32-meter-high statue of Maitreya Buddha located near Diskit Monastery.

What To Expect?
The statue is located on a hilltop, and visitors can enjoy stunning views of the surrounding Nubra Valley from the base of the statue. Be sure to bring your camera to capture the beautiful scenery.
Tips
- When entering a monastery, it is customary to remove your shoes and hat, and to refrain from taking photographs inside the prayer halls. Be respectful of the customs and traditions of the monastery and the monks.
- The best time to visit the Maitreya Buddha statue is during the summer months (May to September), when the weather is pleasant and the roads are open. Keep in mind that the Nubra Valley is at a high altitude, so it is important to acclimatize yourself before embarking on any activities.
