HILL STATIONS
Have you been itching to go to Ladakh? Then ditch all the worry about prepping your car or coordinating your bike gang. All you need to do is catch the bus! Really, it’s that easy now!
Pack your bags and take the bus from ISBT Delhi, which will make the 1100 kms long journey, taking you to Leh in a picturesque 40 hour journey, all for Rs. 1356.
Started this June, this bus ride is one of the longest, highest and toughest bus route in the world. Taking off from the warm plains of Delhi, this bus journey will take you through Chandigarh, Kullu, Manali and Keylong, before reaching the freezing heights of Leh. However, it is not just the daunting temperature variation, but the arduous journey that will test the mettle of the driver and the passengers alike. The bus will pass through some of the highest mountain passes in the world, including Taglang-la (17,480 ft), Lachulung-la (16,600 ft), Baralacha-la (16,050 ft) and Rohtang-la (13,050 ft). To ensure safety, there is an overnight halt at Keylong with a change of bus.
The bus starts from Delhi at 2:30 pm, reaching Keylong the next day at 1:30 pm. The trip then starts at 5:00 am the next day from Keylong and arrives at Leh at 7:00 pm in the evening.
Excited? You should be! There is no online booking for the trip yet as the weather in Keylong decides the fate of the journey forward. You can get your tickets/ advance tickets from the ISBT counter for the 2:30 pm Keylong bus service. Tickets to Leh can then be extended at Keylong.

Check out the picturesque mountain passes you will be seeing along the way!
You have heard about this pass on the news a number of times. At 13,050 ft, this pass has a stunning view, lots of snow and hair pin bends.
If you’ve watched Jab We Met, you’ve probably seen this pass already. With little mountains of snow on both sides, there is something very magical about Baralacha-la pass at 16,050 ft above sea level.
At over 16,000 ft above sea level, this pass is close to Sarchu and Pangong Lake. Though driving here is relatively easier, travellers need to acclimatize to the dropping oxygen levels, if they want to avoid altitude sickness.
The second highest motorable pass in the world at 17,480 ft, Taglang-la is traversed by the Manali-Leh Highway. Watch as the brown mountains make way for snow covered hills and amazing views here.
