What to Do?

Kuala Lumpur Selangor Turf Club is a major horse racing course in Klang Valley, Selangor, that hosts around 30 races a year.

A must-visit for nature lovers is The Lake Gardens area which is home to The Orchid Garden, Butterfly Park and Bird Park, all of which are a must-visit for nature lovers.

The Aquaria is an oceanarium, home to a large number of aquatic animals including large turtles and a variety of sharks. It is located in the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. 

The National Art Gallery and National Museum (near Sentral station) is an excellent introduction to Malaysia’s history, economy, geography, arts, crafts and culture. History buffs can also visit the Islamic Arts Museum which houses an extensive collection of Islamic decorative arts from all over the world.

Chinatown markets like Petaling Street give visitors a chance to sample authentic Chinese cuisine as well as get great shopping bargains.

You can also visit Sri Maha Mariamman Temple—a Hindu temple dedicated to goddess Parvati, Masjid Negara—Malaysia’s National Mosque or Chan She Shu Yuen Clan—an ancient Chinese ancestral hall.

Where to Eat?

For a nice Indian meal, the places you can head to are Spice Garden restaurant, Aryan restaurant or Sarvana Bhavan. At any of these eateries, you must sample Teh Tarik, the local frothy tea. For delicious dumplings, head to Din Tai Fung at the gardens or Nam Heong Vintage at the Pavilion. If you’re a vegetarian or a vegan, there are plenty of dishes for you at these places—just make sure to ask the chef to not use any animal-based sauces and stock.
