SURPRISE ME!
Are you a hardcore friends fan? Here are some Friends-featured locations you should visit if you’re ‘on a break’ to the Big Apple anytime soon. Could you BE more excited?
In the series, Chandler worked as an IT procurement manager (no, not a transponster) at the Solow building on West 57th street. His office is featured in a few episodes, before he quits to try his quick wit in advertising. While visiting this building don’t forget to try out a spot of pizza at Don Antonio’s right down the street.
The apartment was of course built in a studio in LA but you can see the exterior of the building in New York, as shown in the television series, on the corner of Bedford Street in West Village. Peek through the windows and see if you can spot Ugly Naked Guy!
For any Friends fan, this fountain would be as familiar from the opening credits, as THAT song by the Rembrandts (you know you still do the clap). This fountain was also replicated exactly in a studio in California just to make the Friends intro. However, that shouldn’t stop you from getting an epic selfie with the gang in front of the real fountain located at the Grand Army Plaza on 59th Street and Fifth Avenue.
Paleontologist and dinosaur lover Ross, worked at the fictional New York museum of history. This is where the episode “The One Where Ross and Rachel...You Know” takes place. The infamous scene of Ross’s MMYYY SAANNDWHIICHH meltdown is also shot here. While the place doesn’t actually exist, you can go visit the American Museum of Natural History which looks almost the same as the one shown in the series.
You really want to get a giant mug of coffee at Central Perk, don’t you? Sadly, the famous café does not actually exist (OH MY GOD- I know, right?) However, beneath the Bedford street apartments is a restaurant called The Little Owl, whose exterior was often shown in the episodes. The insides do not look anything like the fictional café; it serves Mediterranean food and not cappuccinos in oversized mugs!
