I wouldn’t be wrong if I said that a whiff of royalty greets you the moment you enter the vicinity of Renaissance Lucknow. I had a chance to stay at this splendid hotel in the month of October, 2015. As soon as I reached the reception for my check-in formalities, I was welcomed by the warm staff with a glass of champagne. I knew pronto that I was in for some serious good time!

Let me share why I loved my sojourn at Renaissance Lucknow.

The moment I checked into my room, which was on the 8th floor, I was spellbound by the view from my window – the city of Lucknow looked so grand and stunning with the regal dome-shaped Taj Hotel, Gomti River, and so many new attractions like heritage parks and shopping malls. I almost felt like I was at some exotic location!

After exploring my room in detail – the lights, the plug points, the mini-bar, the complimentary basket and the WiFi connectivity, I got into the shower. I must say everything about Renaissance is so futuristic.

Although I was a bit sleepy after the train journey from Agra, I chose to sit by the window just to admire the views from my room. Then, in a little while, since I was hungry too, I made my way to the 14th floor for L-14, which is an all-day fine dining restaurant, to have my lunch. The experience of enjoying a delicious meal in a trendy setting, along with magnificent city views was unforgettable. It was great to choose from a wide variety of international cuisines and also savour the authentic Awadhi Cuisine. I particularly remember relishing the succulent lamb kebabs, which were the chef’s speciality.

Later in the afternoon, I sat at Coffee & Cakes, which is right at the entrance of the hotel. It’s a cute and elegant coffee house that serves freshly baked confectioneries, and delicious pastries and cakes.

After an evening of city sightseeing, I returned to the hotel for dinner. The city views looked even more spectacular at night. I tried quite a few dishes like Fusilli Pomodoro Pesto, Ravioli Al Porcini and Mushroom Risotto, which were seasoned with the geniality of the hotel staff.

Well, that’s not all. My stay at Renaissance couldn’t have been complete without chilling at Sky Bar, which is located on the 16th floor. There’s an open-air space for lounging, along with a swimming pool for those who might want to take a dip. The best thing to do at Sky Bar is to just sit with a glass of wine and feel the breeze in your hair. It’s so beautiful.
