OFFBEAT
After visiting 25 most strange places in the world, it’s time for a round up! Covering a destination a month, the last 25 months have been full of eeriness, disgust, fascination and wonder! For the uninitiated (aka boring people), I started blogging about the most bizarre places on Earth a couple of years back . Little did I know then that writing a routine blog entry of Rat Temple would start a new chapter in my life and MakeMyTrip’s blogging site. It’s amazing to see how many of you are still glued to it every month.
To pick the best from the entire series has been a mammoth task. Yet, here’s a list of the most strange places on Earth that made readers go bonkers and come back again for more.
It takes almost three days to bury the dead here as the lowest temperature recorded at this coldest place on Earth is -71.2°C with the average being -50°C.
This is where Death Tourism is practiced. Not a single day passes when dead bodies are not cremated with the number going up to two to three hundred every day.
Accidentally created from a geothermal test in 1916, no one knew this stand-alone fascinating structure in Nevada would become a natural geyser!
If you don’t believe in ghosts, maybe it’s time you should! Believed to be the only religious place in India where live exorcism takes place, this one freaked me out!
Housing a collection of more than 16,000 locks of women’s hair, this is the most unusual sight you’ll ever visit in Turkey. And yes, don’t forget to leave your lock of hair here!
How about dining in a toilet? You can choose from bloody poop or green dysentery here! Enter this world of bathroom that presents disgust in the most innovative manner.
It’s not every day you will find a three-year-old Sonia Gandhi playing with Shah Rukh and Amitabh in a park! Confused? People of this village love to name their children after popular celebrities.
Ever heard of a museum you have to swim through to explore? Enter the Mexican Caribbean to enter a museum filled with corals and beautiful sculptures!
Discover the sheer thrill of climbing 7,087 feet on a mountain without any harness or support, only to sip a cup of tea! Earn your cup today.
No paint, no graffiti! All you see is chewed bubblegum that has been used to create this monumental Alley on the Higueira Street in San Luis Obispo!
Now, which of these strange places on Earth is your favourite? Would you dare to plan a trip to any?
