LUXURY GETAWAYS
Nobody likes to live under a rock, but have you ever fantasized about living underwater? And that too in Maldives? We are saying, That’s possible! Let’s reimagine the classic fiction novel ‘Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea’ & replace the notorious Captain Nemo’s submarine Nautilus, with a two-storey villa – The result is ‘The Muraka’ by Conrad, set 16.4 feet below the sea. Available for nothing less than a 4-night vacation package, the hotel flashes a whopping $50’000 (approx. Rs. 36 lakh, excluding taxes) per-night price tag, making it available only to the fortunate few.
In the Madives’ native language Dhivehi, ‘Muraka’ means coral, indicating the villa’s deep-set architecture. If living in a master bedroom that’s more like a human aquarium with fish swimming over your head, is something that excites you, then you should read on...
This underwater hotel in Maldives designed by architect Ahmed Saleem is an architectural marvel that allows you to sleep with the fish, and a few lucky residents might even get the glimpse of turtles, stingrays, or even sharks staring through the glass. The 600-tonne structure has costed approximately 15 million dollars for its construction.
#MMTFact: It was originally built in Singapore, then shipped to Maldives in three parts.
The two expansive floors are made using steel, acrylic & concrete pylons, with 75% of the wall & ceiling surfaces made of clear acrylic walls. The bedroom is upholstered with dark brown leather and floor is covered with silk carpets to reduce the echo.

Oh, and you get your own personal chef and private butler too!
Let’s talk about the food… Celebrity chef Jereme Leung works his magic, not with a wand, but with cutleries to pamper you with delicacies from around the world, at Ufaa Restaurant.
Muraka can accommodate up to 9 guests at a time, so you can bring your squad along too! The guests can enjoy the sun rise & the sunset on the upper deck, or just lay back and get mesmerized by the underwater blues of the Indian ocean.
#DidYouKnow: The Muraka is a world’s first of its kind underwater hotel?! Here, you can star in your own undersea film. Dive or snorkel with a film crew and document your adventures, your way! To add up to your relaxing holiday, you can meditate and practice Yoga on the two decks.
